A few years ago, I was stuck—sprinting through life but never really getting anywhere. I’d spent my entire adult life in New York City, working for The New York Times and New York Magazine. My days were a blur of stress:

☕ $6 coffees. 🍸 $15 Negronis. 🚦 An avalanche of parking tickets.

Even on my days off, I’d catch myself racing down the street. Where was I even going? And why so fast?

I needed a break.

So I went to Mexico—and fell in love.

The food, the culture, the weather, the slower pace—it was everything I didn’t know I needed. And then I met my wife.

She had escaped to Mexico too, looking for a place to make new connections, soak in diverse cultures, and live life on her own terms, free of the chaos we’d both left behind.

We found opportunity here—a growing network of startups, a healthier way of living, and a pace that finally felt right. Together, we decided to stay, build our life, and raise our family here. I’d joke to my friends back home that I was finally living the real American Dream—just in Mexico.

There was only one catch….
